When a Sign Language Interpreter is Needed
Anytime communication is hindered or limited, it is a disservice to all parties involved. Whether it be a meeting, interview, presentation, medical appointment, school, or any situation that requires communication, you need an Interpreter if the hearing party involved is not fluent in Sign Language. As well, there could be a conflict of interest or impediment if the hearing person involved is not able to give full attention to the communication process or if they cannot facilitate communication without incorporating personal beliefs, opinions, or omitting and adding information.
Should you wish to do business with a person who is Deaf, and allow equal access, you may want to read up on this link, explaining the ADA law: www.ada.gov
If your company or business has any form of communication (announcements) taking place – while a Deaf person, as an employee, customer, student, observer / audience, etc., is present – it will help you to read this as well: which states a Deaf persons rights – http://www.disabilityrightsnc.org/pages/106/Your-Right-to-a-Qualified-Sign-Language-Interpreter/
